The Law Enforcement Academy and Board were created by the Law Enforcement Training Act of 1969 (1969 NM Laws, Chp. 264, Sec. 1-10). In 1977 the Academy was abolished and its function was transferred to the Training and Education Bureau of the Criminal Support Division of the newly established Criminal Justice Department (1977 NM Laws, Chp. 257, Sec. 51).
